Looking for something to make yourself look like a Texan? A pair of cowboy boots might do the trick. But don't buy just any old pair of cowboy boots for yourself or any member of the family. The only kind you should buy off the shelf are Lucchese’s (not Boot Town or any of the country western stores that are hereabouts). And you want the walking (not riding) style of boots. Your toes weren't really made for being all scrunched up. Now prepare for a little sticker shock. Really good boots are expensive. If money is no object you can even go for a nice handmade pair. There are only three or four bootmakers remaining in Texas that can do handmade to fit your feet properly. Research hard and be prepared to travel long distances to have a fitting. Then pack your patience because it can take anywhere from six months to two years to have what you ordered made and presented to you. But to save time and money, I recommend Lucchese’s for a cut above, off the shelf pair of cowboy boots.
